Getting to Know Sookie and All the Creatures She Makes Out With

Booking Through Thursday Challenge for September 17, 2009:

What’s the most enjoyable, most fun,
most just-darn-entertaining book you’ve read recently?
(Mind you, this doesn’t necessarily mean funny,
since we covered that already. Just … GOOD.)

living-dead-in-dallasI just finished reading Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris. Living Dead in Dallas is the second book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I loved Living Dead in Dallas far more than I liked the first book in the series, Dead Until Dark. Living Dead in Dallas had a much faster pace and delved into the details of Sookie and her life with vampires.  I think this series is a lot like the show “Survivor”.  The first episode of “Survivor” is always kind of boring because everyone is just getting to know each other, but the first episode is necessary so that the audience can become acquainted with the cast.  Once the introductions are complete, then the plot really gets good because we know the cast and conceivably what makes them tick.

One thing that I completely loved about Living Dead in Dallas is that Sookie gets to make out with a lot of different people and her boyfriend, Vampire Bill, never really seems to get angry. That would never happen in real life.  Sookie tries to be faithful, but what’s a little make-out session here and there?  In her defense, these guys do kiss her first. In real life, I’d probably be calling her names that aren’t appropriate for children’s ears, but in this particular novel, I like all of the making out and then I get to wonder who she is going to make out with next.

So my entertaining book for Thursday is Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris.  What’s yours?

I read the first book, and thought it was okay, but people keep telling me that the second one is way better. I need to read it at some point :)
    Here’s my BTT.

I started reading them just because I had heard so many great things about them. I’m glad that I did because I really like the series…so far.

I agree with you. When I read the first one…I was like this is it. The second one was way better than the first. So, we’ll see what I think about the third.

These books are definitely not to be discussed in depth in a classroom, but that’s perfectly fine by me. I need to read books that aren’t so serisous sometimes.

I found the first book rather boring but after the second book I was seriously hooked! I’ve read the eight first books so far, I’m really looking forward to read the next two!

I’m choosing this BTT question today because I didn’t participate last Thursday and I’m picking a book from this series as well but I’m choosing Dead to the World, I LOVED it!

So how many Sookie books are out there? Ten in the series? They seem to just keep coming! I hope that they keep getting better as well :)
