Adventures in Spelling
We watch a lot of movies in the Yule household. Frankly, its one of the few cheap things that we all can enjoy together, plus I get to stay in my sweats and eat popcorn (heaven). One night, the Yule Clan gathered to watch the infamous movie, “Up.” As we were all settling into the couch, my lovely bonus son, Captain America (16), decided that he was going to teach his little sister (3) how to spell.
Captain America, “U. P. Up. Can you spell that?”
Magpie completely ignored him. She was not in the mood for a lesson. We were going to watch a movie and she was all business. However, Captain America was not to be dissuaded and he tried again. “Magpie. U. P. Up.”
My beautiful little girl with the bright blue eyes and silky brown hair didn’t even look at him as she pronounced, “No, I pee down.”
All of us sat there for an entire minute in confusion wondering what the heck she was talking about. Then what she said hit us all at the same time and none of us could stop laughing.
Magpie was not at all impressed and did not even crack a smile. “Are we going to watch the movie now?” she asks.
